The Room to Dream Foundation is pleased to be participating in an exclusive “Shopping Benefit” on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at Bloomingdales, located at the Chestnut Hill Mall in Newton. This multi-charity event will be held from 10AM – 10 PM and over 35 local charities are participating. Tickets are only $10 each, with 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales benefiting the participating charities. Only ticket holders will be able to take advantage of the 15% and 20% store-wide discounts, raffles and activities scheduled at Bloomingdale’s that day. Aside from the opportunity to raise money through ticket sales, The Room to Dream Foundation will receive an additional $5 for every ticket turned in at the door. In addition, once seventy Room to Dream tickets have been turned in, the foundation becomes eligible for a portion of money raised through any tickets sold at the door and through Bloomindale’s customer service department – where tickets have been on sale since early January. To purchase tickets to support The Room to Dream Foundation or for more information, contact board member Joanne DiFrancesco jdifrancesco@roomtodreamfoundation.org. PLEASE NOTE: No purchase is necessary at Bloomingdales for The Room To Dream Foundation to benefit from you turning in your ticket at the door. However, the sales are going to be great, so keep that in mind!!
The inaugural event held in 2006 and again in 2007 began with an invitation-only opening night black-tie optional Gala, and afforded the Foundation the opportunity to spread the word to friends and others who arrived with a festive spirit and generous spirit to help support the cause. The Festival Open House continued throughout the weekend and welcomed over 200 visitors, who enjoyed the festive décor, photos with Santa, and the opportunity to take part in the raffle. Sponsored by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, the evening featured a five-course, gourmet dinner prepared by the Cask’s Executive Chef, Kurt Vogel. Each course was complimented by a different Sierra Nevada specialty beer. Billy Costa from KISS 108 was the evening’s Master of Ceremonies and entertained guests while auctioning off a variety of autographed sports memorabilia, tickets to opening day at Fenway, and special trips. The event, attended by over 75 people, proved to be a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about Room to Dream. It was a great success and raised over $10,000 for the Room to Dream Foundation.
