Boston Athletic Association
The Boston Marathon to benefit The Room to Dream Foundation

2007 RACE:
111TH BOSTON MARATHON
DATE:
Monday, April 16, 2007
DISTANCE:
26 miles, 385 yards (42.195 Kilometers)

On Monday April 16, 2007, a team of brave runners challenged themselves and the elements by running in one of the worst "weather" marathons in the history of the Boston Marathon, battling cold rain and high winds to raise money for the Room to Dream Foundation. The team consisted of Room to Dream Board Member Jackye Colligan, and her running partners Kauren Quatromoni and Jon Roberts.

Collectively, the team raised over $6,000.00 for Room to Dream. Congratulations to Jackye, Kuaren and Jon and thank you on behalf of Room to Dream!!!!!

“This being my first marathon, I was not sure how I was going to do. I did finish in 4:47 and had so much fun!! It was a great personal accomplishment, but also a great feeling raising money for the RTD foundation. Every time I thought, "I can't do this", I thought of those kids and why I was running and picked up the pace. The support from my family, friends and co-workers was just amazing.

Thanks for letting me part of The Room to Dream Team.”

— Kauren Quatromoni

“Running the Boston Marathon is not a "one-day event" — it takes months of preparation and dedication. Nothing was more motivating to me to get out in the rain or cold than knowing the money we were raising would make a difference in these children’s lives.

The RTD Board, the Kids and the Families, as well as my unbelievable supporters gave me the strength to commit and finish strong.

I am so grateful for the experience."

— Jackye Colligan

"The marathon 'experience' for me was summed up when I passed one person. He looked to be partially paralyzed in all his limbs, and he was in a wheelchair. At that point he was facing backwards, pushing himself along with jerky movements of his feet. One push. He coasts to a top. Then another push. This guy was amazing and brave, facing his own set of personal challenges.

So for me, l did my best to keep on going, and it was great to raise money for Room to Dream to help kids who have their own set of personal challenges, to help them to keep on going and do their best every day. I’m really thankful to have been a part of the experience."
